I made this card earlier and posted all the details, but I decided this would be a perfect Easter card! The "He Has Risen" stamp was only $1 at Michael's. I stamped that in Tim Holtz Distress Ink--Peeled Paint--on BoBunny's Calypso Love (the more calmer backside!) On the inside of the card I have stamped "Happy Easter", also a dollar stamp from Michael's...with Peeled Paint on Calypso Love.

Enjoy the full moon tonight--if the weather is clear in your area--and root on Team USA in their Gold Medal Hockey Match!!

I just got this paper from a store in Landrum, SC, called One Scrappy Chick. The stores near my house don't carry October Afternoon paper, so I was excited to find it. This paper is from the Farm Fresh Collection and is entitled South Forty. Cute, eh?

I saw this really cool card on Splitcoast Stampers and decided to CASE it...Copy And Share Everything. Alas, my card took a turn somewhere and came out like this...and no where near the original.

It gets points for originality, right??? ;-)

Not at all a great picture, but I couldn't get the light to work. This is a sympathy card for a friend who lost her former mother-in-law, the grandmother of her 2 boys. I like the calm, natural feel of the card. It looks way better in person.

I really had planned to do something else with this paper, but when I glued it to the card blank and added a bit of Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Antique Linen and Walnut Stain) to the edges....I really didn't want to touch it. It is just too cool as is. Sometimes the simplest cards are the most awesome. :-)

A bit of simplicity here! This is only a card topper at the moment. I used mulberry Bazzill and Graphic 45 paper (Times Nouveau Collection, Hip to the Jive). I distressed it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Walnut Stain. Retro Flower punch from Paper Shapers (3 shapes, layered) and a brad from Hobby Lobby...punch border using a Fiskars border punch...and TADA! An easy card topper, awaiting a use!

This card is going out to a friend who is recovering from surgery. I love this cute stamp and also how geometrically-masculine it turned out. Really, I used bits and pieces of leftover paper to bring this all together. A bit of ribbon and a few half-pearls and a card is born!! I hadn't intended to make my friend a card, it just ended up that way! ;-)

This card started out fine, went downhill fast, and then emerged slightly victorious. I stamped the little 'weeds' along the bottom.

Good.

Then I stamped the big daisy on velum, colored it, cut it out, and attached it to the card.

Bad.

The velum is slightly off-white, so it didn't match the white card blank. And it just hung there, in air, among the little weeds and leaves.

Bad.

I thought all was lost until I thought...eh...why not frame it?

Good.

I used two Nesties to cut out the frame shape. And then slapped it right on the card blank. I also sponged a bit of Distress Ink around to give it a sky.

Better.

I used a second frame on the inside for the sentiment. This card got turned around from the scrap heap to the mailbox! :-) Never give up on your cards!!

This card topper came from another really beautiful card over on Splitcoast Stampers. I cut out the butterflies using a Cuttlebug die. I used 2 pieces of paper: velum (ripped from a Hallmark card) and Black and White Script (Hobby Lobby). I stamped the flowers (Inkadinkado: Garden Delight) and the sentiment (Hero Arts: Thinking of You) using Martha Stewart Snowflake ink onto mulberry Bazzill cardstock. It's ready to be put on a card blank when the need arises.

I like the simplicity of the color scheme. The muted flowers and sentiment are very peaceful, and the butterfly seems to be resting for just a moment before flying away....kind of like it stopped by for a visit, bringing beauty along.

I got this idea from a card on the Splitcoast Stampers site. I happened to have the exact same stamp as that cardmaker used, so I thought...COOL! The buttons are from foof-a-la, the Summer Collection. The flowers are from a Calypso Tin, Trini Bright. The ink is a Tim Holtz Distress Ink--Peeled Paint. The stamp is by Rhonna Farrer for Autumn Leaves, Swirls V:I. All on a Halcraft white card blank, awaiting a sentiment!

Here in upstate SC, we got over 4 inches of snow this past weekend. It was beautiful while it lasted! Right now, the rain is washing all the snow away, so I thought I would make a card that memorialized the snow! I guess I need to send it quickly, before the snow is a forgotten memory...ha ha.

The proportions didn't exactly happen as I had planned, but I think the card is kind of cute anyway. I wanted the turquoise paper to be smaller, maybe a third of the card, with the pink taking up two-thirds. It came out almost half and half. Oh well. Another lesson learned!

Ooo! I love experimenting on cards!! This funky number uses the brayer bounce technique. Ink up a brayer, then bounce it (touch it) to the paper, move the brayer and touch/bounce it, move....etc. I used the Big and Juicy Mountain Meadow ink pad and stamped directly on the card blank (Halcraft). I stamped the Soleil sun stamp from Rubber Stampede on the same ink pad, then cut the image out with a Marvy punch (blue). I had a little open spot in the corner, so I added a little heart from Colorbok, Metal Hearts. Simple, but kind of dramatic. ;-)

I love this My Mind's Eye paper so much that I've made several cards with it. It's from Jen Wilson's 29th Street Market. One is Fresh "Brothers" Grass Green and the other is Peaceful "Dream" Consciousness/Dreamy Paper. I punched the 3 layers with a Fiskars border punch. The ribbon is from The Paper Studio and the flowers are from Calypso Tin (Trini Bright), attached with a yellowish brad. All layered on a white card blank from The Paper Studio.

I love this Valentine's paper from BoBunny! I used both sides for this card. It's definitely not finished yet, but I've made all the Vday cards I need, so I guess it will go into the Card Box. I used a heart punch from Marvy and a Fiskars border punch. It needs some bling, maybe some ribbon, and a sentiment. The card was based on a sketch challenge...whose challenge it was...I've totally forgotten!! ;-)

We're having nothing short of a Southern Blizzard here in SC, so I've been able to make LOTS of cards today! I'll get them posted for you soon!!

I used a technique I found...mine didn't turn out so well, but it was interesting. A paper towel method...ink up a textured paper towel and press it against your paper, kind of like a rubber stamp. The online picture was pretty cool. I'll try again with a paper towel that has deeper textures. Live and learn! =D

Well, it's Tuesday night and you KNOW what that means, right?? NCIS NIGHT! I had about an hour before NCIS started so I decided to make a quick card. I was surfing around Splitcoast Stampers and found a pretty card....and OF COURSE mine looks nothing like it! =D I guess that just means I'm 'creative', right??? LOL!

As I am finally beginning to grasp...every time I try to CASE a card (that means Copy And Share Everything), I end up going in a totally different direction!! =D

I just bought the paper at Hobby Lobby this morning. All of their rubber wood mounted stamps are 50 PERCENT OFF! ;-) So I grabbed some paper while I was there too. And then I made this card. It's interesting, not something I would normally think to do, but I like the use of color and white space on this one. Plenty of room for a sentiment when needed.

An Amy Butler Challenge

Well, it was a challenge to ME, I mean! Call me crazy, but I'm not a big Amy Butler fan. So I challenged myself to use some Amy Butler paper I got in a scrap pack from Scrapbook Creations. This picture makes it look a bit greeny, but it's really on an ivory card blank. It's kind of simple--not much grunging, which is way more my style, but I think it turned out OK. I also got to use a Nestabilities set, which is always fun.

CASEing the Watering Can

Once again, I saw a card I really loved and decided to CASE it. (This stands for either Copy And Share Everything...or...Copy And Selectively Edit.) Of course, it looks nothing like the original! That's OK. I like my card anyway!! ;-)

The Details:
Paper: black cardstock, Whitewash Collection: Watering Can (Core'dinations), white Bazzill
Cuttlebug: Floral Fantasy embossing folder
Stamp: Garden Delight set (Inkadinkado)
Punch: Marvy Purple Scallop Oval
Ink: Black Soot and Pine Needles (Tim Holtz Distress Ink) and Dee Gruenig's Markers to highlight the flower and parts of the stems
Black ribbon from my stash
Adhesives: Glue Runner, Glue Dots

I began with a Halcraft card blank. I cut a rectangle of black CS, then a smaller rectangle of Watering Can. I ran the Watering Can through the Cuttlebug, sanded the design lightly, then wrapped black ribbon over the Watering Can. I sandwiched all that and attached it. Then I cut another piece of Watering Can and flipped it over to the green side, attached that on top. I punched 2 scallop ovals--one from black CS, the other white CS. I stamped the image (in Black Soot) on the white oval, added some color, inked the edges a bit with the Pine Needles, and then cut the black oval. I added 1/3 of the oval to the top of the white oval, the rest to the bottom. Then I attached that on top of the stack.

I left the bottom green section blank for a sentiment.

In retrospect, I probably should have done something to the rectangle of the green side of the Watering Can paper. Maybe make it thinner, so it doesn't show up at the top. Oh well. I do like the color combination. Very sharp. Better in real life. ;-)

Happy Sunday, everyone! I got inspired after I left worship this morning, so I spent a few hours playing when I got home. I pulled out an old 8x8 paper pad I stashed some time ago. I loved the colors--all kraft and dusty blue. This is a simple card, not much going on, but I really like it.



The Details:
Paper: Deja Views--Butcher Block--Sky and Sage Block (Designer Paper and tag)
Flower: Calypso Tim--Trini Bright; white brad in the center
Ribbon--Navy blue from my stash
Ink--Walnut Stain (Tim Holtz Distress Ink)
I also distressed the edge of the Designer Paper with a seam ripper.

The tag was left blank, awaiting an occasion.

I saw the tutorial for Scallop Edge Medallion on Splitcoast Stampers. It's the same old story...I saw it...I loved it...I tried it...it came out cool but no where near the original.

I cut out the waves using a Fiskars border punch. Then I noticed that the square I used was too large for a card, so I cut the punched borders off, to make the square smaller. I attached the medallion. It looked lonely. I attached 2 of the cut-off borders. It had a kind of tribal flair going on. Then I rooted through my stamps, found a majestic peacock and thought...yep. So I stamped him with clear Versamark and embossed him. The bird looks white in the picture, but really he's shiny, glassy, glossy black on black.

Oh shoot! I meant to add a few Nightfall Pearls to it. Better get on that.....

This card started out slllllloooooowly. It didn't seem to want to get its act together. Ever have one of those creative moments??

First I stamped a Hampton Arts/Michael's Dollar Bin-find stamp on a Kraft card blank randomly with Martha Stewart Snowflake ink. Then the card sat on my desk for a day or so.
...

Then I got the bright idea to stamp the Hampton Arts flower again, this time with clear VersaMark on Fiskars Inspirables (A Simply Weathered Look) Red Antique Crackle. I really LOVE this paper--the weathered paint has TEXTURE. Then I embossed it, cut the flower out and used a Glue Dot to affix it. Then the card sat there.

Then I got the bright idea to use two Marvy circle punches (the pink and the blue) to cut out a circle within a circle. Then I used some tiny Glue Dots to affix the circle, kind of like an off-centered bulls eye. I affixed the punched-out inner circle to the inside of the card.
...

There.
All done. ;-)

I saw this cute little thank you card by Jennifer McGuire on the Hero Arts site. I loved it. I decided to copy it. Does it look ANYTHING like Jennifer's??? NOPE. HA! I got the basic idea right, but nothing else! Jennifer had one flower, punched out, then another smaller flower stamped and cut out in the center, which was then matted by a little yellow circle.

Check.

Aaaand that's where the similarities ended. ;-)

In retrospect, I probably should have done something along the outside border of the kraft paper. Maybe another strip of the yellow paper. This is awaiting a card-needed event, so there's plenty of space beneath the 'window' for a sentiment. The inside is blank, but I saved the Nestabilities rectangle die cut to finish the card off.

I hope this happens to other people too....I saw a card online. I loved it. I decided to copy it. The end product looks NOTHING like the original!! LOL! But I really love this card. The colors are, as always, way better in real life. Here are the deets:

This is just a card top for now. I just bought the Cake Stamp. It's from Studio 18 (AKA Michael's Dollar Bin). It's stamped in Tim Holt's Distress Ink, Dusty Concord. The Happy Birthday stamp is from Stampabilities, also stamped in Dusty Concord. The Ribbon is from The Paper Studio. And the bit of bling is from Studio 18 as well. I ran the card through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

Lesson Learned: Swiss Dots show through ribbons. Ah ha ha ha! I still like it....even that way!

This is one of my first forays into landscape stamping. I really like how it turned out. I purposely made the scene look like a lake-side or sea-side view from a forested mountain. I had an issue with the blank black space on the bottom. I did that on purpose, but after the card was made, it looked TOO blank. It took me a while to decide how to use that area to my advantage. When in doubt, STAMP SOMETHING!! LOL!!! Peace seemed an obvious choice! ;-)

This is one of those 'I'm not really sure about this card' card. :-) I debated on embossing it. I debated on the buttons. I debated on everything! I'm not sure about it yet. The flowers look like a face to me, which is kind of disturbing. Oh well. Here's what I used:

I LOVE Graphic 45's papers!!! This one is called Bee's Knees from the Times Nouveau Collection. I cut out several of the cherries and a leaf, and secured them using 3D-Dots by EK Success (1/8 inch thick). The stamp was a clearance find at Hobby Lobby--PrintWorks Collection. I cut out the little sentiment rectangle and distressed it with Tim Holtz's Fired Brick. The edges were rounded using a Fiskars corner rounder. A Marvy Uchida Bright Red marker filled in the little heart at the end of the word 'happies.' The red ribbon behind the rectangle is from my stash.

I used some awesome paper from K & Company's paper pad called Sea Glass. This page had several different wood siding patterns, so I cut it to use coordinating colors. I added a bit of Peeled Paint Distress Ink from Tim Holtz on the edges. The circle is punched using a Marvy paper punch, then I used Just Right's 2 inch round stamp and a border for the Road Trip sentiment. I added a bow of blue ribbon (The Paper Studio), which I also distressed with Peeled Paint. For a bit of added bling, I used a glitter pen to outline the Road Trip circle and to highlight the 'nail' on the bottom right corner. This is all attached to a blank card (ivory) with a Glue Runner. The circle is attached using a glue dot from Fiskars.

This card is going to my mom. We take lots of crafting road trips together and usually end up spending lots of money! ;-)

New Goodies!

I'm so excited that I found a 'new' (to me!) scrapbook store. It's about a 45 minute drive, but hey...you gotta do what you gotta do to support the economy, right?? ;-) It's called Stamps and More By Eleanor, in Piedmont, SC. TONS of rubber stamps. I bought a few of those. She also carries TONS of cardstock and designer papers that I haven't seen before, including Rusty Pickle designs. SO exciting! PLUS, she has the largest section of Cuttlebug items I've seen in an actual store. Eleanor herself was there--a very nice and helpful lady!! I got a quick tut on Copic markers too. I hope to get a few cards made today with some of the new goodies. I'm sending the latest two cards off to their recipients today.

I used a Fiskars border punch for the bottom of the card blank. I used Dusty Concord Distress Ink (Tim Holtz) on the edges. I cut a piece of Bazzill cardstock and added a Fiskars corner rounded Carolees Creations designer paper called Green Daisies. I used the Hero Arts set ('Thinking of You') to stamp the 'Hi There!' greeting and the flowers. I stamped them with Versamark and clear embossed both. I distressed the sentiment paper with a seam ripper. I added a little bling: glitter pen on the flower centers and a clear rhinestone near the top left. I sandwiched a strip of funky fringe between the Bazzill and the designer paper that I found in my ribbon stash.

The Chalkboard Technique
I stamped the image (Martha Stewart: leaf and branch clear stamps) with Craft Smart White Pigment Embossing Ink on black Bazzill cardstock. Then I tapped Inkadinkado chalks over the image, kind of like chalk embossing. You don't have to wait for the ink to dry to do this. I corner punched the cardstock with a Fiskars rounder. I added black ribbon (Bobbin Ribbon) and attached both to another piece of Bazzill. To finish, I stamped 'thinking of you' from Hero Arts' Thinking of You set in Versamark and embossed that with clear embossing powder. I used a Glue Runner to attach it to a card blank from Michael's.

This card is being sent to a friend's daughter who is going through chemo.
