Hot Pink Hoopla

OK, just for the record...I don't do a lot of stuff with pink or even hot pink. I only had ONE sheet of hot pink cardstock. But that's Shimelle's latest challenge.

Use HOT PINK.

For once, I really tried to flat out copy Shimelle's layout as much as I could. I left a few things off and in the end, I think it came out OK.

You know...for a hot pink page and all. ;-)

This photo is one of my all time favorites. Like ALL time. It was taken on a trip to the ACE Basin, near Beaufort, SC. It's this absolutely cool place where three rivers (the Ashepoo, Combahee and Edisto--thus ACE) flow together to form a huge estuary. There are old rice fields there too--and this picture is of one of the old canal works along the fields.

So I went from that picture to this hot pink page. Total hoopla.

I even sprayed it with Glimmer Mist. Lotsa hoopla there, buddy.

I would also like to point out, for the record, that I've actually used one of my Precious Horded Items. See that little quarter-sized Tim Holtz Philosophy Tag? It hurt me to adhere that to this page.

Hurt.

Bingo Card Challenge...without the Bingo

I am finally FINALLY caught up with all of Shimelle's challenges!!!! =D

Here's the final one...well, so far, as I'm guessing Shimelle will add more as we go through the week.

Anywho, the challenge was to create a page inspired by a lovely yellow and black layout she posted. Thus the bingo card. It had butterflies too.

But I went hard core on this one, baby.

I took this picture several years ago on a trail I hiked almost daily. Sadly, I moved away and haven't been back there since, but I have loads of happy memories from the time I spent out on the those trails.

Signature Accent Challenge

WHOA! What fun fun fun I've had the past few days playing along with Shimelle and friends! This is the last challenge for the weekend, but she has added another one to keep us playing along this week!

So this is a photo of the USS Yorktown, permanently docked in Charleston, SC. I took the photo using black and white film and had it developed in sepia tones.

So now for the Tim....I mean the products I used on this page. Ahem.

The letters are Tim's Grungeboard letters.
The edge distressing is done with Tim's Distress Inks.
The large mat under the photo is Tim's Kraft Glassine.
The calendar is one of Tim's Salvage Stickers.
The bracket was spot colored with Tim's Distress Inks.
The letters are colored with Ranger's Color Wash (kind of Tim.)

Ahhh, Tim...You make me happy.

I'm backing up a bit and getting Shimelle's first challenge done. I didn't realize it was part of the challenge weekend and didn't play along. Oops. :-)

And another disclaimer: Sorry about the grass shadows on the page. I had to place it on a spot of grass to get any sun for the photo.

Yeah, and people drove by as I was standing out there too. Oh dear. What we do for our creations, right? ;-)

So this time we had to follow Shimelle's sketch. It was a bit harder for me because I'm really not used to layers of paper. I think I got everything in though.

This picture was taken during a day trip to a heritage preserve in South Carolina. The wildflowers were just beginning to bloom and it was such a wonderful hike--surprises around every corner along the trail!

This one was so much fun because there wasn't all that thinking and planning and designing and redoing and thinking and re-planning and deciding that USUALLY comes with a full page. ;-)

This shot was taken while I was on vacation in Michigan's Thumb Country. I was coasting to a stop sign and looked to my right and saw some cows in a field. I grabbed my camera and took the picture just as this awesome cow looked straight at me! I mean...what a face!! =D

I headed for my mom's picture stash of me as a baby.

This was the very first one I saw. I thought it was cute...and then I looked more closely at it.

Do you know--should I admit this??--I still have that exact same Teddy Bear?? Minus the bow and the little tongue, and a WHOLE bunch of fur, but yeah. Still the same little Teddy. =D

I feel so old.

Eventually I ended looking for a simple template online and found one on Scrapbook.com--this is a variation of it, but I felt like I needed to give credit for the inspiration!
