Tim's October Tag

Yes, folks, it's time once again for the monthly installment of Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012!! Sir Tim made us wait a whole extra week, but as always...totally worth it!! So here's my take on October's Tag.

I started out by covering a manilla tag with a piece of 7 Gypsies tissue paper. I added a bit of purple and orange acrylic paint, then immediately blended it around with a baby wipe.

Next I blended Distress Inks (Ripe Persimmon and Seedless Preserve) to highlight the wrinkles in the tissue paper. I hit it with a few sprays of Perfect Pearls Mist in Biscotti for a lovely shine.

I die cut the BOO from Grunge Paper, painted it with black acrylic paint. I followed Tim's recipe for coloring dry glitter. I mixed Studio G glitter with Pitch Black Alcohol Ink. Very cool idea! I covered the BOO with Glossy Accents and then pressed the black glitter onto the die cut.

I stamped the pumpkin (Heartfelt Creations) on Grunge Paper too. I inked that with Ripe Persimmon and added Rusty Hinge for shadow. I went over the stamped image parts with Rusty Hinge Distress Marker, then brushed it with the tiniest bit of Antique Bronze Distress Stain for a bit of sparkle.

I adhered a distressed, torn train ticket (Pretty Little Studio), circled October and 31 with a Barn Door Distress Marker and adhered it to the tag. I added MAGIC from the Chit Chat stickers, distressed with a bit of Ripe Persimmon.

I adhered the BOO and the pumpkin with Glossy Accents.

**Oops!  Forgot to say:  I cut a short piece of green paper twine, misted it and then distressed it with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  I curled it around a Q-tip while wet so it would dry curly.  Then I adhered it behind the pumpkin stem.**

Finally I stained a piece of seam binding with Rusty Hinge and Spiced Marmalade Distress Stains. (Wow, the Stains make this SO EASY!!)

Around Here...

Today I'm joining up with Ali Edwards and her idea to post about what's current in our lives.  I have a Currents list that I write up in my daily journal, but I thought it would be fun to play along with Ali!  Here goes....



Listening to Third Day's "Offerings II" CD.

Putting up with the chaos of having the house painted followed by the roofers in the same week.

Obsessing over "Perry Mason" TV episodes.  Dang I love that show.

Enjoying early morning walks along trails in a nearby Nature Preserve.

Struggling to identify fall warblers.  This time of year they all look the same to me.

Making a new art journal from an old magazine.

Clinging to God's Word and His promises.

Smiling about meeting a fellow bird watcher out on the trails.

Drinking water.

Eating Azteca taco salad shells.  (And loving and obsessing!)

Starting to get used to life without my Dad.

Catching up on "Castle" from the beginning.

Believing God is sovereign over all things and He can be trusted.

Trying not to be so jealous of others who seem to have it all.

Realizing my life will never be what I dreamed it would.

Learning that God is my Help.

Feeling the warm sun on my face.

Grateful for so so many things!

CASology #10: Sky

Here's my take on this week's CASology challenge...SKY.

I cut a small panel of white cardstock and then used two different blue inks to make the sky. I adhered it to a folded piece of white cardstock.

With another scrap of white cardstock, I stamped that ridiculously awesome FLY stamp. So cool--it's totally one of my all-time faves!! =D

I used black ink for that and then lightly dusted it with more blue ink so it wouldn't be so stark on the blue panel.

I cut around the image and then adhered the FLY bird using 3D Dots for a bit of height.

I'm sending this card to my friend who scored her first ACE on a disc golf course! She actually participates in disc golf championships and competitions. I think she's so cool! ;-)

Tim Reboot

I decided to do something a little different for my next Daily/Junque Journal/Project Life Thing.

Got all that? ;-)

In the past I've used composition notebooks. You can see a picture here.

As with 2011, I found that I run through 2 composition notebooks during the year and end up with just November to get through.

I play along with Ali Edwards' December Daily so I have to make up something for the few days in November. That way I have the whole year covered! =D

Anyway, Susan Raihala has a Gratitude Campaign going on and I thought...how perfect would that be for the month of November?? She sends cards. I'll list things that I'm thankful for on a daily basis--including as many objects or photos or whatever as I can adhere on the pages.

OK, so this makes way more sense in my head. Heh.

Here's the cover of the November Gratitude 2012 album...totally inspired by Tim Holtz's September Tag.

I used foil tape and Alcohol Inks and various objects to create faux metal and rivets. The letters (Grunge Letters) are under the foil tape.

The rest of the album (back cover and inside covers) were sprayed with Dylusions Ink and Perfect Pearls mist.

[I did discover that the ink tends to come off on my fingers, so I'm covering it with Matte Medium. I also discovered that Dylusions Inks are not so happy when they meet watery substances like Matte Medium. Tis OK. I like the grungy look!]

The album is an 8x8 Zutter Cover-all. They work perfectly fine with the Cinch--which is what I used.

My hope is that this album will help me focus my appreciation for all of God's blessings--both large and small.

Never Forget

Cindy over on the Papers Pads and Pictures blog posted a photo she had taken of the Twin Towers in New York City back in 2001.

So I decided to post one of mine too. This was taken on the way to the Statue of Liberty waaaay back in the summer of 1990.

I can still remember exactly what I was doing when the Towers fell.


May we never forget.

Thank You and Thank You

First off, a huge thank you to all those who left comments on my "Tim's Tag"! And then another thanks to all my new followers!!! You are all so appreciated!! =D

Here's what I've been doing the past few weeks: Making thank you cards.

I got the idea from Vicky on her Crafting Clare blog. I figured three minutes was a pretty sweet amount of time to make a card!

I cut card blanks into two panels. Then I cut patterned paper to cover the top of the panel. I distressed the edges and stamped the Thank You on the side, then adhered it to the panel.

The last thing I did was score a line under the patterned paper piece.

Super simple and I was able to crank tons of them out in a short time. Always a good thing, right?! ;-)

Tim's September Tag

I haven't been creating too much lately, but I just had to play along with Tim Holtz and his 12 Tags of 2012.

This month's tag was all about the industrial grunge. I didn't have all of Tim's goodies, but I had so much fun improvising!

I used metal tape, Alcohol Inks, Grunge Board, metal numbers and stuff from my stash.

For the record....Tim's Tags are total therapy. =D
