CASEing Susan...again!
Susan Raihala over on the Simplicity blog has been busy, busy, busy making incredible Clean-And-Simple cards.
I totally love her style. I especially LOVED these cards and decided to, once again, shamelessly copy them.
Shamelessly.
It's super simple and super CAS.
Stamp a cupcake.
Draw a line.
Stamp a sentiment.
The end.
You could totally do this for any event too. I'm thinking....how easy are Christmas cards going to be this year, eh??? ;-)

Go Fly a Kite!!
The challenge this month over on the Inspiration Emporium blog site is to GO FLY A KITE.
Seriously.
Can it get any cooler than that??

And here's my take on it!
I cut a simple kite from Kraft Glassine. I figured....a chicken would not have good cutting skills and her kite would be simple.
Just roll with me on that one, OK? ;-)
I stamped the chick on the card blank and also on a piece of white paper. I cut the body and beak out, and adhered it to the stamped image on the card using Pop Dots. I also cut the wing out and glued it to the body.
I cut some simple grass from a snippet of green cardstock.
To finish the card I added twine for my kite string and used Pumice Stone Distress Marker for the eye, adding a bit of glitter with a glitter pen.
Ta da! Chicken with Kite.

Paper: Recollections (white card blank); Bazzill (green cardstock); snippet of white paper; Kraft Glassine
Stamp: CraftSmart (chicken)
Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Squeezed Lemonade); Distress Marker (Pumice Stone)
ETC: Spica atyou (glitter pen); We R Memory Keepers (Sew Easy Fancy Floss--baker's twine); EK Success (Pop Dots and Glue Dot); Zig Two-way Glue Stick
****Kelly asked how I made the clouds on yesterday's card. Punch (or cut out) a circle (ovals or scalloped circles are cool too) and place it near the top of the card. Using an ink applicator, gently brush ink across the top of the circle onto the card. Think of the circle as a clock and brush the ink from 10 to 2. Then move the circle to the side and brush more ink on, making sure not to overlap too much. On the next row below, make sure your circle is off-centered from the one on the top row and keep brushing from 10 to 2 on the "clock." Continue until your sky is full! I hope that helps. This wasn't my original idea, so you could probably find something on YouTube or SplitCoast Stampers if you need visual instructions. ;-) ****

CASology #5
This week's cue word on the CASology challenge is POND.
I had so much fun making this card....perhaps a little *too* much fun! I think I may have over-stepped the Clean And Simple definition a bit.
Oh well. =D
To make this card, I used pretty much every Tim Holtz Distress Ink color ever.
OK, not really. But close.
Very close.
I started by inking up the pond, then I stamped the cattails. I used a punched out circle to make funky, stylized clouds, using the negative of the circle to make the sun.
I stamped the frog on some left over cardstock, then fussy cut him out, adding a bit of ink to give him some color. Then I popped him up so he wouldn't get lost in the cattails!
I attached the panel to a white card blank.
I hope I don't get fussed at too much on this one for not being really CAS...maybe just frowned at, eh? ;-)

December Daily...and so it begins
One of the biggest lessons I learned from participating in Ali Edwards' December Daily project my first year was to START EARLY and get everything finished before December even started. This past year I had my Dec Daily album DONE in July.
So I'm just a tad late this year. ;-) But it's DONE.
I managed to get to Hobby Lobby yesterday (it's kind of far from my house so I don't go there often) and found an Echo Park Christmas paper pack that was perfect! I love the vintage colors!
I have a stash of 8x8 albums that I've been using for various projects, including Dec Daily. I love the smaller size. This one's from SEI.
I use my Dec Daily as an Advent Daily, so mine runs from December 2nd to the 25th this year. I added more pages at the end so I can finish the year in this album.
The Echo Park pack includes stickers and letter stickers, journaling pieces and a whole page of super large numbers. I used a circle punch for the numbers for each day.
Along the bottom of each page--where the Echo Park name is--there's a small tag that has a sprig of holly and a script-font Merry Christmas. I cut each of those off (while watching the Olympics!) and adhered them to the bottom of each page. Love the cohesion that creates!
Now my only problem will be remembering in December where I put the album in August!!! =D

OLW--As usual, not exactly
So this week's One Layer Wednesday Challenge is to be inspired by Susan Raihala's Pinterest board and create a Clean And Simple card.
I saw this pin...
... and not only do I want this on my wall, I also made a card based on the design.
Of course, since I put layers on my card, it no longer meets the OLW/CAS criteria, but I like it anyway. =D
Super simple too. Yay.
I cut up that little strip you sometimes get on the bottom of designer paper--this one's from American Craft, Peachy Keen collection.
Then I distressed it with brown Distress Inks. When that was dry, I stamped the sentiment on it with black Archival Ink. When *that* was dry, I distressed the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
Then I adhered the little strips.
See? Told ya it was easy peasy!
The hardest part was sitting around waiting for the ink to dry. Heh heh!

Tim's August Tag
OK, I know I say this every single month...but Tim Holtz's Tags are just SO MUCH FUN to make!!
I think part of the excitement for me is that I never have the supplies Tim uses so I have to go all MacGyver on my tag! =D
Sooooo....this is what I did for August's Tag:
I die cut two Spellbinders labels at the same time to get a kind of frame. I used black cardstock, then smooshed it into an embossing pad and sprinkled/heated clear embossing powder.
The silhouette is chipboard from Maya Road. I just colored it with black acrylic paint.
I used a Frame-Its from Stamp On It along with an embossing folder from Cuttlebug to get the clear space in the middle of the manilla tag and the embossed pattern on the rest of the tag. I brushed the raised areas with more acrylic paint and then distressed the heck out of the tag with brown Distress Inks and a paper distresser. I used another Spellbinders label die cut to cut the end off the tag.
I drenched two paper flowers with Distress Stains to make them look like dried, pressed roses. I die cut the leaves and distressed them with more brown Distress Ink.
I also drenched some seam binding with Distress Stains and crinkled it before drying.
I adhered all that and misted it with Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist.
For my little attachments...I re-purposed a decorative paperclip, adding a punched circle of Graphic 45 paper and sealing it with Glossy Accents. I added a heart paperclip and some pearls from a re-purposed necklace. And then I picked "magical" from Tim's Chit Chat stickers.
Whew! Got all that?? =D
This makes me think of a young girl, in 1845, going to her first dance and coming home to make a tag from the roses in her corsage so she'll never forget her magical evening.
OK, so maybe I have an over-active imagination.
Maybe.
