I was hanging out on KingstonMama Crafts's blog again and Ann posted another purple card for the previous Less Is More challenge. I decided not to do another purple card, but I did want to CASE her creation. :-)

This card was super simple and used a stamp set that doesn't see much use. Poor stamp set. I think I bought it for art journaling, but then didn't like the effect. Seriously, poor stamp set.

I stamped the image on white cardstock, adhered it to a red cardstock that in real life matches the ink almost EXACTLY, then adhered that stack to a cardblank.

Stamp. Glue. Glue. Done.

I love that.

Valentine's Day

In January.

But let me explain!! ;-)

See, Vicky over at her Crafting Clare's blogspot posted this gorgeous Valentine's Day card that I so wanted to CASE.

I love how it turned out!!

First I die cut the postage stamp and the heart. Then I stamped the script from the French Foliage set, adhered the postage stamp heart, stamped the cancellation stamps and then the love stamp.

I think I'll move the love image down a bit, but otherwise I'm really happy with this card! Pretty easy and quick too!! =D

Sailboat

Another card CASE'd from Crafting Clare is on tap for today. Vicky (AKA Crafting Clare) actually made her card using a different recipe, but I think the end results in both cards are really cool!

Vicky used a brayer. I, lover of all things Tim Holtz, pulled out my Distress Stains and achieved a similar look without the cleanup! ;-)

First I swiped Tumbled Glass Distress Stain all over a piece of white cardstock. Then I swiped Broken China only along the bottom, with lighter swipes as I went up. Finally I made just a few swipes with Picket Fence Stain near the top, to suggest clouds.

I used two different stamps sets for the images. The sailboat is from a Stacy Stamp set and the post marks and the splots are from Stampin Up's French Foliage set. It's really hard to see, even in real life, but I also stamped the script in the lower left corner, also using Broken China Distress Ink. It kind of blends in, while creating a wave-like effect. Very subliminal! ;-)

I distressed the edges, then brushed the cardstock with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, matted it on teal blue cardstock, and adhered the whole thing on a kraft cardblank.

I didn't add a sentiment because this could be sent for many occasions--male birthday, bon voyage, thinking of you or even sympathy.

Predominately Purple #3

 Today's card is the last in my little series based on Ann's card over on the KingstonMamaCrafts blog which was made for the Less Is More challenge to use Predominately Purple on a card.

Card Number Three

This time I used the same pieces of Eclipse Paper as Cards One and Two, I just used the non-swirl side to block off a rectangle that runs across the cardblank.

I only used Distress Ink in Seedless Preserves to HEAVILY ink up the rectangle.  Then I dropped water on the area to create those super cool reactions you get with any Distress Ink.

I stamped the same flower as the other cards, also in the darker purple ink--Dusty Concord.  And I stamped the sentiment in the Concord ink as well.

This is probably my favorite of the three.  I totally improved as I continued creating.  ;-)  And I absolutely LERVE the new Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.

Predominately Purple #2

Here's the next card of my little series based on Less Is More's challenge to use Predominately Purple.  I am certain you will notice how I've improved as I went along.  :-)

Card Number Two.

Once again, I've CASE'd Ann at KingstonMamaCrafts.

I used the same cut-up Eclipse Tape shapes, just moving the swirls over a bit.  I again distressed the inside swirl shape with two different purple Distress Inks and stamped the flowers with the same darker ink.

I had trouble deciding on the position for the sentiment.  I kind of like it up there on the right.  It's not in the lower right "sweet spot," but I like that the swirl brings the eye along to the words.

Predominately Purple #1

I finally, finally, FINALLY got some studio time yesterday. I managed to make four cards...one of which hit the garbage.

*sigh*

I feel so rusty! ;-)

Card Number One:

Less is More's challenge this week is to use Predominately Purple. Ann at KingstonMamaCrafts created a really beautiful card which I immediately wanted to CASE! AND since purple is my Mom's favorite color and her birthday is next month...well, I just had to play along! =D

I began by cutting a piece of Eclipse Tape into two pieces. I adhered them to the cardblank, leaving about two inches between them, creating a swirl-shaped stencil and masking off the rest of the card.

I used two different purple Distress Inks to color in the gap between the two pieces of Eclipse. Then I stamped the flower three times using the darker of the two inks.

Finally I stamped the sentiment. in the same dark ink.

I wasn't not too happy with the swirl nor the way the sentiment stamped, so tune in tomorrow when I post Predominately Purple Card #2!

Sunny Birthday

Whoah! I feel like I haven't been here in a MONTH! I've just been busy--no new drama/trauma. ;-) Between taking down Christmas and closing out 2011 and just generally cleaning up everything, I have had NO TIME to be creative! I *have* been living vicariously through all of you by visiting your blogs though! =D

And now to the card...

I have been mojo-less this past week and I felt if I just sat down and did a sweet and simple card, maybe I could coax the mojo along.

This is about as sweet and simple as it gets. I used flowers I had already punch and glued a few together to create a layered daisy. (Totally inspired by the fabulous Jules!!) Then I stamped my brand-new, never-been-used swirl stamp as a stem for the flower, followed by the sentiment--in the same ink color.

It felt good to be creating again, if only a sweet and simple card!
