CASE'D B-day

CASED B-day by HikerCynthia
CASED B-day, a photo by HikerCynthia on Flickr.
Yep, totally CASE'D this one from Lynn's Loft. Well, not totally. Kinda. ;-)

I used a black A-7 sized card blank. Then I cut a piece of that lovely peach and green flowered paper for a panel. I rounded the corners like Lynn did.

I stamped the sentiment on the backside of that lovely peach and green and flowered paper and punched it out with a label punch.

I added the bling cuz it seemed like it needed a little bling.

Not too sure about this one. It reminds me of the TV we had when I was 3. You know, when you actually had to GET UP and walk over to the TV to change channels?? Yeah, THAT one.

Supplies:
Paper: PopTone (Black Licorice card blank); House of Three/Pink Paislee (Soiree: Music)
Stamp: Endless Creations (birthday stamp)
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Black Soot)
ETC: Recollections (diamond bling); Glue Glider Pro; Crop-o-dile (Corner Chomper); McGill (Word Tag Punch)

That's it for the cards this week. Tomorrow Shimelle on Shimelle.com starts up the weekend scrapbook party! I have to go scrounge up some photos that need pages. ;-)

Craft on!

Dandelion Birthday

Dandelion Birthday by HikerCynthia
Dandelion Birthday, a photo by HikerCynthia on Flickr.
OK, as always, sorry for the wonky photo. I took the pic in broad daylight, not knowing that there were shadows laying across my card. It's really not gradiated at all. I tried to fix it, but this is the best I could do. *sigh* It's really quite cute IN REAL LIFE.

I totally stole the idea off of Susan Raihala's blog, Simplicity. I just changed up the colors, the stamp and the sentiment. ;-)

I stamped the flower--does it look like a dandelion to you? Yeah, me too. :-) Then stamped the sentiment after I made a mat for the flower panel.

Super easy. I think the layout works best with long, tall stamps--like Susan used.

Supplies:
Paper: Recollections (white card blanks); Bazzill (yellow cardstock)
Stamps: Heidi Grace (Winnifred Street set); Endless Creations (birthday stamp)
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Mustard Seed)
ETC: Glue Glider Pro

OK...so if you managed to read this far...ANNOUNCEMENT TIME!

Shimelle over on her Shimelle.com blog is hosting another weekend scrapbook party, beginning this Friday. It's so much fun! I played along this past year and even WON a prize!! I treat it a bit like a race--trying to do all the scrapbook pages that very day, but you can totally create at your own pace. Come party with us! It's all free and really a huge treat to see other crafters' creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for leaving encouraging comments!!!

Since it's Easter Monday, I thought I would slip in the last of my Easter makes.

This one is so ridiculously cute, I just can't stand it. Heh heh. ;-)

Stamp: We R Memory Keepers (Cotton Tails: Some Bunny set)
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Pumice Stone)
ETC: Martha Stewart (butterfly punch); Zig Two-way Glue Pen

And that's it from my little sunny corner of the world! I hope you have a wonderful Monday!! Thanks so much for stopping in today!

Take Care

Take Care by HikerCynthia
Take Care, a photo by HikerCynthia on Flickr.
This was a hard card to make. It's for a man...and how do you say 'get well soon' without butterflies?? Every "go-to" image I have for recovery/healing/get well is all girly.

So I thought of trees. For me, trees evoke peaceful, almost eternal, steadfast kinds of feelings.

And I think that's so important when you're sick or recovering.

I hope the recipient feels the same way about this card.

Supplies:
Paper: Recollections (white card blank)
Stamps: GinaK (The Giving Tree set); KaiserCraft (Get Well set)
Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Walnut Stain and Peeled Paint

"And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit." (Matthew 27:50) He died for you so you might live with Him.

Happy Easter!

Tim's Tag--April

Tim's Tag--April by HikerCynthia
Tim's Tag--April, a photo by HikerCynthia on Flickr.
If you haven't yet had a look-see, check out Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012! This is my take on April's make.

I had so much fun making this one. Wait...I said that for the first two, didn't I?  Heh heh.

I used a bunch of supplies, but my favorite part is the branch with the dragonfly. I cut up some Grungepaper to look like a branch and inked it up, then pressed it into a VersaMark pad, then used Distress Embossing Powders on it. Very cool technique.

For the dragonfly, I stamped the image on Grungepaper, then colored it carefully with Distress Inks, then covered it with Glossy Accents. Also very cool.

I had to search for a cool sentiment and when I found this one...it just fit! I typed it up on cardstock using a typewriter. It says...My soul is in the sky. A line taken from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Which I also thought was pretty perfect! ;-)

Thanks for visiting today! If you came by via Tim's blog...welcome and thank you very much!! =D

Spring Card

Spring Card by HikerCynthia
Spring Card, a photo by HikerCynthia on Flickr.
I thought I had done a pretty good job of taking pictures of my Easter cards.

Until I pulled this photo up to blog it.

See that little splotch under the 'p' in Spring?? Yes, that's a bug. I took the photos outside and never noticed this little visitor until just now.

I left him on there--not editing him out--just cuz I thought the whole thing was too funny.

Spring. Sunshine. BUGS. LOL!!

So I took the idea of this card from the One Layer Wednesday challenge--courtesy of Arydth on the MASKerade blog. I just changed the colors. :-)

I stamped the spring sentiment first, then added the leaves around the edge. To get the leaves in a nice even circle, I did what Arydth did--I punched a circle of scrap paper then placed it over the 's' and stamped around the circle's edge.

For a final touch (other than the bug) I used a glitter pen on the butterfly.

Supplies:
Paper: Recollections (white card blank)
Stamps: CraftSmart (spring stamp); Inkadinkado (Tree set)
Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Worn Lipstick, Bundled Sage)
ETC: Sakura Gelly Roll Pen (Clear Star); Marvy-Uchida (1/2 inch punch...I think)

That's it for me today. I'm almost finished with my take on Tim Holtz's Tag. I'll try to get that posted later this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter by HikerCynthia
Happy Easter, a photo by HikerCynthia on Flickr.
Happy Monday! Here's another Easter card for your viewing pleasure! ;-)

Super clean-and-simple. I stamped the egg in Worn Lipstick Distress Ink, the sentiment in Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

Then I used chalks and a small paintbrush to color the egg.

That's all there is to it!! =D

Supplies:
Paper: Recollections (white card blank)
Stamps: Studio G (egg); Paper Inspirations (sentiment)
Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Worn Lipstick, Pumice Stone)
ETC: Inkadinkado (Blending Chalks)

I hope to get some craft studio time this afternoon. Have you seen Tim Holtz's tag for April?? Yeah, I'm totally playing along. :-)
